The Spitfires travelled across the border for a matchup with the Flint Firebirds. This was the 4th matchup this season between the two teams. Windsor was 3-0 heading into the game.

In the first period, Flint got on the board first on a back door passing play. However, it didn't take much time for the Spitfires to get it back. Just three minutes later it was Boka who batted home a rebound tying the game with 5 minutes left in the period. But, Flint restored their one-goal lead late in the period off a Spitfire turnover making it a 2-1 game. Shots were in favour of Windsor 14-10.

In the 2nd period, Flint scored early to take a commanding 3-1 lead. However, the Spitfires battled back. Just over halfway through the period, Jean-Luc Foudy stole the puck off the defenseman and went on a breakaway and slid the puck five-hole to bring the Spitfires within one. Shots were 26-20 in favour of the Spitfires.

In the third period, Corcoran tied the game at three with over twelve minutes to play. The teams traded chances, but this game was headed to overtime.
