Windsor Spitfires News Release
WINDSOR, ON. - The Spitfires started another fairly new lineup in their second preseason game in Flint on Sunday afternoon. Just before the halfway point of the period the Spitfires struck back. Stewart scored his first goal of the preseason from Abraham which cut the lead in half. Just over 3 minutes later, the Spitfires would tie the game at 2. Lavigne got the puck to Peer and he passed it to Abraham who scored his 2nd of the preseason. With under two minutes to play in the period, Maillet would score his first of the preseason in his first game and make it 3-2 Spitfires. The shots were 16-8 in favour of the Spitfires after 20 minutes.
In the second period, the Spitfires would switch goalies to Ian Michelone halfway through the period. The Spitfires had a powerplay chance but nothing materialized. In the final 5 minutes of the frame, the Firebirds would score twice to take a 4-3 lead. Shots were 20-19 after 40 minutes.
In the third period, the Firebirds had a little lapse of concentration and took 2 penalties sending the Spitfires to a 5 on 3 powerplay.
