Windsor Spitfires News Release

Josh Shalla scored at the 2:13 mark of overtime on Sunday afternoon, as the Saginaw Spirit beat the Windsor Spitfires 5-4. The win evens the best-of-seven Western Conference semi-final series at a game apiece.

Twice the Spits built two-goal leads, but twice the visitors clawed their way back before 5,603 at the WFCU Centre.

Tom Kuhnhackl had a pair of goals for Windsor, while Shalla, Ben Chiarot and John McFarland each had a goal and an assist for Saginaw.

Brandon Saad pulled the visitors even near the midway mark of the third period with his second goal of the playoffs, beating Jack Campbell (29 saves) on a rebound after the Spitfires failed to clear the zone.

Jake Carrick and Stephen Johnston had the other goals for Windsor. Johnston's sixth extended his playoff point-scoring streak to nine games.

The Spitfires went 0-for-5 on the power play, including a one-minute, 5-on-3 advantage in the waning minutes of the second period.
