Elmira Pioneers News Release
Elmira, N.Y.- Two North Shore pitchers combined to no-hit the Pioneers through seven innings while Vic Davilla and Yuri Sanchez each hit two-run homeruns as the Spirit defeated the Pioneers 6-0 Wednesday night at Dunn Field.
The Spirit got five of their six runs in the first three innings. In the first Sanchez hit a two-run homer followed by Davilla's two run shot in the second. After that Elmira starter Allen Levrault settled in and pitched well, but North Shore starter Ken Ray held the Pio's hitless in his six innings of work.
In the seventh Klae Calvert came on in relief of Ray and held the Pioneers hitless until Jason Tuttle managed to leg out an infield single to break up the no-hitter bid. Tuttle reached base twice in the game, via an error in the first and his single in the eighth. Tuttle has now reached base in all seven of Elmira's games this season.
Levrault (0-1) allowed six runs on eight hits and two hit batters while striking out two. Ray (1-0) got the win allowing no runs on no hits with two walks and two hit batters while striking out eight in six innings of work.
