
Jackals swept out of Quebec

Little Falls, NJ â The New Jersey Jackals fought hard, but lost 8-6 to Quebec as Les Capitales swept the three game series.
New Jersey led 2-1 through three full innings. A sac fly RBI by Sandy Madera in the first, and an RBI single by John Lindsey in the third accounted for the Jackals runs. Olivier Lepine tallied a sac fly RBI for Quebec in the bottom of the third, cutting the Jackals lead in half.
In the fourth, New Jersey once again plated a run on an RBI single by Brian Oakes. But Quebec would strike for two in the bottom half of the inning to even up the score at three. Dany Scalabrini singled scoring Eddie Lantigua and Todd Leathers.
Quebec broke the deadlock in the bottom of the fifth. Todd Leathers singled home a run, and Lee Delfino reached on an error, allowing another run to score. Through five, Quebec led 5-3. Les Capitales added three more runs in the bottom of the sixth off the Jackal bullpen to break the ballgame open at 8-3. Lantigua and Buck McNabb both tallied RBIs in the inning.
Zack Smithlin inched the Jackals closer in the top of the seventh with an RBI on a groundout. And in the ninth, Lindsey singled with the bases loaded, plating two, but the Jackals could not complete the comeback.
Marty Janzen got the win for Quebec in five innings of work. New Jersey's Joe Orloski suffered the loss in five innings on the hill. Christian Mendoza came on in the ninth and got his second save in as many nights.
The New Jersey Jackals return home on Thursday. June 2, 2005, as the Grays come back into town.
