Oshawa, Ont. - The Saginaw Spirit travel to Oshawa for their first out-of-conference game of the season on Friday, October 13th, at the Tribute Communities Centre. The Spirit carry three straight victories with them into Oshawa for the first of two meetings with the Generals this season.

Last Time:
Saginaw won on October 11th against the Flint Firebirds 2-1 for their third win of the 2023-24 season. Zayne Parekh and Dean Loukus both scored their first goals of the season, with PJ Forgione gaining his first point of the season on the Loukus goal. Matyas Sapovaliv assisted on both goals, bringing him to three points on the season. Andrew Oke started for the Spirit, saving 24 of 25 shots in his third win of the season.
Oshawa's last game was a 5-2 loss against the Brantford Bulldogs on October 7th, putting them at 2-2-0-0 on the season. Stuart Rolofs and Beckett Sennecke both scored their second goals of the season. Luca Marrelli, Ben Danford, Dylan Roobroeck and Ryder McIntyre picked up assists in the loss. Jacob Oster started for the Generals, making 32 saves on 37 shots for his second loss of the season.
Last Season:
Saginaw and Oshawa played two games last season, with both games being won by the Spirit. The first game on October 30, 2022, was a 3-2 home win for the Spirit, featuring multi-point nights by both Michael Misa and Calem Mangone, and a Roberto Mancini game-winning goal. Beckett Sennecke and Luke Torrance scored for the Generals, but it was not enough in the first game of the season.
The second game in Oshawa was a 5-0 win for the Spirit, highlighted by Mitchell Smith's three-point game (2G, 1A) and Lincoln Moore's first OHL goal. Tristan Lennox made 26 saves for his first shutout of the season.
Players to Watch:
Zayne Parekh leads the Spirit in points with seven (1G, 6A). He sits third in the OHL in assists, and is tied for the league lead in powerplay assists with four. Hunter Haight leads the team with four goals. Matyas Sapovaliv leads the team in faceoff wins, winning 60 of 90 faceoffs for a clean 66.67% in the dot. Andrew Oke leads the team in all major goaltending stats, holding a 2.02 goals against average (GAA), a .922 save percentage (SV%), and three wins.
Dylan Roobroeck and Beckett Sennecke lead the Oshawa Generals in points with five a piece. Roobroeck, Sennecke, Luca D'Amato and Stuart Rolofs each lead the team with a pair of goals. Jacob Oster leads the Generals in all major goaltending stats with a 3.26 GAA, a .898 SV%, and two wins on the year.
