Spirit Net Goalie VanBuskirk From Sting

(Saginaw, MI) The Spirit picked up netminder Parker VanBuskirk from the Sarnia Sting. VanBuskirk is a 1988-born player that comes to Saginaw via a trade for overager Ryan Berard. Additional terms were not disclosed.

"The Saginaw Spirit organization is proud to welcome Parker to our family," stated Spirit General Manager Don Edwards, "He has played more than 70 games in the Ontario Hockey League - with that kind of experience he adds depth to our goaltending corps."

VanBuskirk is a native of Windsor, Ontario and spent two seasons with the Sarnia Sting. During the 2005-06 season he posted a record of 6-16-1-1 in 30 games, with 804 saves on 915 shots for a 0.887 save percentage. VanBuskirk tallied 1325 saves on 1471 shots during the 2006-07 season for a 0.900 save percentage. He ended last season with a record of 25-13-3-3 in 48 games, and had two shutouts - on October 14, 2006 against the Windsor Spitfires and on February 23, 2007 against the Oshawa Generals.

The Spirit take on the Greyhounds in Sault Ste. Marie Friday, September 28th at 7:30 PM, then return to TheDow Event Center for a 7:11 PM match-up against the Owen Sound Attack on Saturday, September 29th.
