Saginaw, Mich. - The Saginaw Spirit (4-7-0-1) face the Mississauga Steelheads (10-3-0-0) at the Dow Event Center on Friday, November 3rd.

Last Time:

Saginaw lost to the Erie Otters on Thursday, November 2nd, by a score of 6-5 at the Dow Event Center. Valentin Zhugin walked away with two goals, and Michael Misa had two assists. Zayne Parekh had a three-point night (1G, 2A), with Calem Mangone and Ethan Hay both adding their fourth goals on the season. Andrew Oke and Nolan Lalonde combined for 25 saves on 31 shots in the loss.

Mississauga beat the Kingston Frontenacs, 4-2, on Tuesday, October 28th, at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre. This win put the Steelheads as the first team in the OHL to 10 wins this season and a 10-3-0-0 record. Porter Martone completed a four-point night with an assist in the first period and three goals in the third. Marc Boudreau scored his fifth of the year, and both Luke Misa and Parker Von Richter recorded two assists. Jack Ivankovic started in net for the Steelheads, saving 30 of 32 and getting his second win.

This Season:

Saginaw and Mississauga last faced off on Saturday, October 14th, at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre, where the Steelheads edged out the Spirit 4-3. Braden Haché scored his first of the year, and Matyas Sapovaliv scored his second. Hunter Haight had a two-point night (1G, 1A), with Luke McNamara, Valentin Zhugin, and Joey Willis adding an assist. Luke Misa led the way for the Steelheads with three assists, while Lucas Karmiris (1G, 1A) had a multi-point night as well. Mason Zebeski and Chas Sharpe both added goals, and Zander Veccia scored his first of the year on a late game-winner. Andrew Oke started for the Spirit, saving 17 of 21 shots, and Ryerson Leenders protected the Steelheads' crease, making 41 saves in the win.

Players to Watch:

Zayne Parekh leads the Spirit in points (14), including a team-leading 11 assists. Valentin Zhugin leads the team in goals (8), and Matyas Sapovaliv continues to dominate the faceoff dot at 60%. Andrew Oke leads Saginaw in all major goaltending categories, sporting a .881 save percentage (SV%), a 2.68 goals against average (GAA), and three wins.

Luke Misa's 20 points lead the Steelheads and have him tied for seventh in the OHL. His 14 assists lead the team and place him fifth in the OHL. Porter Martone's 11 goals place him third in the league, and first among Steelheads skaters. Ryerson Leenders leads the team in all significant goaltending categories. This includes a 2.72 GAA, a .920 SV%, two (2) shutouts, and eight wins.

Saginaw currently has six (6) players with ties to the National Hockey League (NHL), including Joey Willis (Nashville), Matyas Sapovaliv (Vegas), Hunter Haight (Minnesota), Braden Haché (Florida), Nolan Lalonde (Columbus, FA), and Ethan Hay (Tampa Bay).

Mississauga has one (1) player drafted to the NHL in Angus MacDonell (Dallas).
