Saginaw Spirit News Release
Kitchener, Ontario - Sunday afternoon, the Saginaw Spirit stayed perfect at the 2018 Preseason Showcase in Kitchener, Ontario with a 3-1 win over the Moncton Wildcats of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
The Spirit would score first for a third straight game when Mason Millman lit the lamp on a wrist shot from the left circle. Millman's first goal of the preseason was assisted by Jake Goldowski and Brady Gilmour. The Spirit outshot the Wildcats 12-6 in the opening period and took a 1-0 lead in to the locker room.
The second period consisted of the Spirit pressuring the Wildcats goal, and goaltender Francis Leclerc bailing out his team. The Spirit put a total of 23 shots on goal in the middle frame, but could not find the back of the net. The scored stayed 1-0 in favor of the Spirit heading into the final period.
After 114:52 of shutout hockey, Spirit goaltender Cameron Lamour finally relented and the Wildcats were able to tie the game at 14:52 of the third period on a goal by Jordan Spence.
