
Spirit Finish Weekend with Win, Beating IceDogs 4-2

(Saginaw, MI) The Saginaw Spirit finished the weekend with a win, beating the Niagara IceDogs 4-2 Saturday night at the Dow Event Center. Spirit defensemen T.J. Brodie and Nick Crawford each tallied two assists in the effort. The win moves the team's record to 7-4-0-0 for the season.
The Spirit came out strong in the first period, scoring 35 seconds into the game, as winger Jordan Skellett notched a goal. Assists were credited to winger T.J. Brodie (NHL CALGARY FLAMES) and defenseman Nick Crawford (NHL BUFFALO SABRES). IceDogas winger Andrew Agozzino tied the score up at 4:54, receiving assists from center Freddie Hamilton and defenseman Scott Fletcher. Quickly answering back, Spirit center Jack Combs found the net to score a goal at 8:16. Fellow wingers Jordan Szwarz and Jordan Skellet assisted on the play. Winger Chris Chappell continued the scoring for the Spirit, as notched a goal at 10:40, giving the Spirit a 3-1 lead. Crawford and Brodie assisted on the play, each earning their second assist of the game. The Spirit kept their lead and the score remained untouched during the second period.
Spirit defenseman Adam Comrie (NHL FLORIDA PANTHERS) knocked in an unassisted goal at 7:28 in the third period. Shortly after, center Mathew Sisca scored a goal for the Icedogs at 12:47. The goal was assisted by forward Chris DeSousa and defenseman Mike Schwindt, finishing the game with the Spirit ahead, 4-2.
Spirit goaltender Edward Pasquale finished the game with 33 saves and goalie Mark Visentin earned 17 saves for the IceDogs.
