North Shore Spirit News Release
The North Shore Spirit extended their winning streak to three games Tuesday night with a 5-4 victory over the New Haven County Cutters.
Ken Ray battled through a rough third inning to pick up his second win of the early season. Ray pitched 6 2/3, allowing four earned runs on six hits. Ryan McCally set down New Haven 1-2-3 in the ninth for his second save.
The Spirit jumped out to an early lead in the second on an Alex Trezza solo homerun. New Haven quickly responded with a four spot in the top of the third. Darren Ciraco got the Cutters on the board with an RBI single. Three batters later, third baseman Jeff Brooks launched a three run shot over the fence in right to put New Haven up 4-1.
North Shore didn't waste anytime in tying things up. Andy Howdeshell led-off the fourth with a ringing double to left. He moved to third on a Marcos Agramonte bunt single. After Eric Storey drove home Howdeshell with a groundout, Vic Davilla crushed a hanging breaking ball deep over the wall in right center.
With the game tied in the fifth, CANAM player of the week, Travis Oglesby hit his league-leading fourth homerun of the season, a solo shot that put the Spirit ahead 5-4.
The Spirit will battle New Haven again Wednesday, June 8 at Fraser Field. Game time is 7:05PM. This night is also special because the Spirit will pay tribute to Dick Radatz.
