
Spirit battle Knights in 4-3 Round Two Loss

(Saginaw, MI) The Saginaw Spirit lost to the London Knights 4-3 during game two in the second round of the playoff series Saturday night at TheDow Event Center. Winger Joe Pleckaitis added one goal and one assist in the effort. The Spirit will visit the Knights in London tomorrow April 5th for game three of the second round. The puck drops at 7 PM. The team will return to home ice for game four on Tuesday, April 7th for a 7:11 PM start time.
Center Tyler Murovich kicked off scoring for the Spirit, knocking in a goal at 2:46 in the first period. Winger Joe Pleckaitis and defenseman Cody Sol assisted on the play. London defenseman Michael Del Zotto moved the score into a tie, scoring a powerplay goal at 6:51, assisted by center John Tavares and defenseman John Carlson. London center Jared Knight added another goal for London at 7:10 in the period. The goal was assisted by winger Jason Wilson and defenseman Scott Aarssen, ending the period with London ahead, 2-1.
Tavares scored a powerplay goal at 12:39 in the second period, with assists coming from Del Zotto and Carlson. London center Phil Varone scored London's second powerplay goal of the period at the 13:23 mark. Varone received assists from Carlson and Del Zotto, closing out the second with a London lead, 4-1.
At the start of the third period, center Jack Combs netted a powerplay goal for the Spirit at 2:26 assisted by defenseman T.J. Brodie (NHL CALGARY FLAMES) and goalie Edward Pasquale. The Spirit edged closer to London with a goal from Pleckaitis at 6:22 in the period. Assists were credited to center Daniel Pachis and defenseman Nick Crawford (NHL BUFFALO SABRES). The game ended with London ahead, 4-3.
Spirit goalie Edward Pasquale posted 30 saves on 34 shots for the game and Knights net minder Trevor Cann finished with 27 saves on 30 shots.
