
Windsor evens up series with 8-2 victory over Plymouth

PLYMOUTH - Ryan Ellis, Andre Loktinov and Greg Nemisz scored two goals each to power the Windsor Spitfires to an 8-2 victory over the Plymouth Whalers in an Ontario Hockey League playoff game played Saturday before 2,947 at Compuware Arena.
Adam Henrique and Dale Mitchell scored the other Windsor goals. Tyler G. Brown and Tyler Seguin scored for Plymouth
The best-of-seven-series is now tied at one-game apiece, with Game 3 in Windsor on Sunday at 6pm and Game 4 back in Plymouth on Tuesday at 7:05pm.
Winddsor - the top team in the Canadian Hockey League during the regular season - bounced back from a 6-3 defeat in Game 1 by pelting 73 shots on Plymouth goaltenders Matt Hackett and Scott Wedgewood. The Spitfires won the battle of special teams, going 6-for-17 in the chippy affair while killing off all nine Plymouth power plays.
After Ellis opened the scoring at 0:55, Henrique scored in tight at 2:45 on a power play to give Windsor a 2-0 lead. Brown cut the Windsor lead to 2-1 with a short handed goal, taking the puck away from Windsor goaltender Andrew Engleage and scoring from the right side of the Windsor net at 4:04.
Windsor put the game away with five goals in the second period - Nemisz at 0:38, Loktionov at 1:48, Ellis at 9:03, Nemisz again at 12:51 and Mitchell at 19:17. Seguin scored the only Plymouth goal in the period at 4:54.
Loktionov finished the scoring at 2:08 of the third period. Elllis appeared to score his third goal of the game at 8:29, but it was waved off because of a penalty on the play.
Windsor outshot Plymouth, 73-21.
