Spirit Announce Important Dates For 2010 Off-Season

(Saginaw, MI) The Saginaw Spirit Hockey Club is already preparing for the start of the 2010-2011 regular season, and the team is pleased to announce several important dates for the off-season. The upcoming regular season starts in late September 2010, with a full game schedule being released by the Ontario Hockey League later this summer.

Saturday May 15, 2010 and Sunday, May 16, 2010. The Spirit are hosting returning players and their newest prospects for the annual Meijer presents the Spirit Rookie Camp, with support from Blue Lakes Charters and Tours and the Holiday Inn Express. Fans are welcome to attend the on-ice segments at the Saginaw Bay Ice Arena, with a practiced scheduled for Saturday May 15 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM and the Blue-White Game scheduled for Sunday, May 16 from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM.

Friday June 25, 2010 and Saturday June 26, 2010. The National Hockey League will be hosting their annual Entry Draft in Los Angeles. Several Spirit players are eligible for the draft, with four of the team's forwards ranked by NHL Central Scouting in their final 2010 rankings. Ivan Telegin was listed as the 33rd top prospect, Josh Shalla was listed as the 84th top prospect, Michael Sgarbossa was ranked the 92nd top prospect and Michael Kantor was listed as the 192nd top prospect. Tuesday June 29, 2010. The Canadian Hockey League will be hosting their annual CHL Import Draft, where teams get to add import players to their roster. An import player is considered any non-North American hockey player eligible to play in the CHL, and each team is allowed two import players on their roster at any given time. The Spirit selected goalie Tadeas Galansky 33rd overall and Ivan Telegin 42nd overall in last year's import draft.

Monday August 2, 2010 to Friday August 6, 2010. The Spirit will be hosting their annual hockey school in the first week of August, with kids ages 6-13 able to work with Spirit players and coaches in a fun and educational environment. Monday September 1, 2010 to Sunday September 5, 2010. The Spirit will tentatively be hosting their fall training camp in the first week of September. Stay tuned to SaginawSpirit.com for more information!

Saturday September 11, 2010. The Saginaw Spirit will be potentially hosting the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhound for an exhibition game in Saginaw. Location and game time to be determined.

Saturday September 18, 2010. The Saginaw Spirit will be potentially hosting the Sarnia Sting for an exhibition game in Saginaw. Location and game time to be determined.
