Spirit Announce 2021-22 Regular Season Schedule

Saginaw, MI. - The Saginaw Spirit, in conjunction with the Ontario Hockey League, are pleased to present the regular season schedule for the 2021-22 regular season, the 20th season in the history of the franchise.

"Going into our 20th anniversary celebration season and coming off of back-to-back West Division Championships, as together we battled Covid 19 during the lost season of 2020-2021, the Saginaw Spirit are thrilled to present this game schedule and to announce that our first home game at the Dow Event Center will be Saturday, October 16th," said Spirit President and Managing Partner Craig Goslin. "As we return to play, we feel an excitement like never before. We feel a pent-up energy from the elite student athletes on our roster, staff, fans and the entire Great Lakes Bay Region. We are looking forward to warm greetings for all as we gather back together at the Dow for Saginaw Spirit home games. It is an honor for the Saginaw Spirit and the OHL to provide the Great Lakes Bay Region with world class sports entertainment. We are grateful to our fans, season ticket members, our group ticket partners and our valued corporate partners for their continued support in making the Saginaw Spirit a 20-year success story. We are honored to be an anchor tenant in the excitement occurring in Riverfront Saginaw. Together, we will continue to work to put Covid 19 in the rear- view mirror. SCHEDULE BREAKDOWN

Saginaw will play 68-regular season games during the 2021-22 OHL season, 34 at home and 34 on the road. 36 of those games will be challenges from within the West Division, 18 at home and 18 on the road. The Spirit complete their schedule with 32 games against opponents in the Midwest Division, 16 home and 16 on the road. For the first time in team history, the Spirit will not play an Eastern Conference opponent in the regular season.

SPIRIT SATURDAYS

The Spirit will play at home 16 times on Saturday evening this season, making that night the busiest of their 68-game schedule. The Spirit will play a total of 23 Saturday games throughout the season.

ROAD TRIPPIN'

Saginaw will play 14 Friday road games this season, by far their busiest road night of the campaign. 17 games of their 68-game schedule will be played on Friday night.

COORS LIGHT I-75 DIVIDE RIVALRY

The Spirit and Flint Firebirds meet for the first time on October 20 at The Dort Financial Center in Flint. This is the first of 12 meetings this season with their arch rival. The first engagement at The Dow occurs a week later on Wednesday, October 27. Since the 2015-16 season, the Spirit and Firebirds have gone head-to-head for the Coors Light I-75 Divide Cup. Saginaw has been the keeper of the Cup since the 2017-18 season, going 19-3-1-0 against Flint in that span.

FAMILIAR FOES

Flint and Erie will oppose Saginaw more than any other OHL team this season. The Spirit will play their U.S. rivals 12 times each, six games being at home and six on the road.

Tuesday - 1 game (1.4%)

Wednesday - 14 games (20.6%)

Thursday - 5 games (7.4%)

Friday - 17 games (25%)

Saturday - 23 games (33.8%)
