Spirit Acquire Shalla and Picks in Trade

(Saginaw, MI) The Saginaw Spirit have completed a trade with the Guelph Storm, acquiring forward Josh Shalla, three picks - a second, third and fourth round - in the 2010 OHL Priority Selection, a conditional eighth round pick in the 2011 selection and the Storm's first round pick in the upcoming 2009 CHL Import Draft.

In return, the Storm received defenseman Adam Comrie, the rights to goalie prospect Matt Hoyle and Saginaw's second round pick in the 2009 CHL Import Draft.

Winger Josh Shalla comes to Saginaw to start his third season in the Ontario Hockey League. The 1991-born forward was selected by the Brampton Battalion in the fourth round of the 2007 OHL Priority Selection. The Whitby, Ontario native was traded to the Guelph Storm in the middle of last season, accumulating 3 goals and 2 assists in twenty four games. Shalla tallied a combined 14 goals and 6 assists during the 2008-2009 regular season.
