Lowell Spinners News Release
LOWELL, MASS. - The Lowell Spinners, Class-A Affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, are pleased to announce a record setting day at LeLacheur Park Sunday afternoon as a team-high 5,537 tickets were sold to see the Spinners take on the Hudson Valley Renegades.
The mark broke the previous high water mark of 5,420 fans for the July 15, 2009 game against the Aberdeen IronBirds.
"We are truly grateful for the unwavering support of the best fans in Minor League Baseball," said Spinners President and General Manager Tim Bawmann. "We thank our great fans for their support, not only tonight but all season long, and look forward to bringing the most affordable and best family entertainment in the Merrimack Valley the remainder of the season."
The 5,537 tickets sold came on the heals of yesterday's season-high attendance of 8,907, half of the recorded attendance of 17,814 for the annual Futures at Fenway Minor League Double Header at Fenway Park.
In the game itself, the Spinners fell to the Renegades by a score of 2-1in a game that took just two hours and 11 minutes. The first 1,000 fans through the gates received a free Spinners duffel bag courtesy of IBEW and fans were treated to post-game Catch on the Field in addition to the nightly kids running the bases and Thomas the Tank Engine rides.
The Spinners conclude a six-game homestand Monday, August 20 with Electronics Giveaway Night and wrap up the season with a seven-game stretch, August 24-30, which includes Bruins Night with Daniel Paille, Fireworks, Pirates Night and more. Tickets for all remaining home games are available at www.LowellSpinners.com .
