Spikes Theme Nights Round Out 2007 Promotional Schedule

The State College Spikes completed the four-part release of their promotional schedule today, with the announcement of various theme nights throughout the season.

After being one of the most widely talked about promotions of the 2007 season, the Spikes will hold their Bark in the Park night on July 24th. Fans will be encouraged to bring their canine friends to the 7:05 game against the Aberdeen IronBirds. The game will also feature a performance by the high-flying Skyy Dogs USA & Rockin Ray.

Also in the month of July, the Spikes will host their first of two Little League Clinics on Sunday, July 1st. These clinics are free of charge for children 14 & under, who have tickets to that evening's game, and will be guided by Spikes players and coaches who will teach kids the fundamentals of the game. All clinics will be held at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park from 12 PM - 3 PM. The second clinic will be held on July 15th.

On Sunday, August 8th, the Spikes will hold a clinic with a different group in mind as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Day. The 2nd Annual Ladies Baseball Clinic is open for women of all ages and will teach the baseball fundamentals with an emphasis on fun. Also planned for the 8th is the first of two Jersey-off-the-Back auctions, as the Spikes will auction of special Pink Jerseys to raise money for cancer research.

The second jersey auction will take place on August 17th, benefiting the Ronald McDonald House. Also on the 17th, the Spikes will host a Scout Night Sleepover, where scout troops will be allowed to camp out on the field following the 7:05 PM game.

As the summer warms up, the Spikes will try to help fans cool down with Super Splash Day on August 6th. Super Splash Day is geared toward the young and young at heart who want to enjoy one of the Spikes afternoon games while cooling down with the help of the Spikes.

Finally, the Spikes will celebrate the beginning of the Penn State school year with two special theme nights geared toward the Nittany Lion faithful. On Wednesday, September 5th, the Spikes will host Blue & White Night and on September 6th Penn State's Dance Marathon will be honored throughout the game.

A wide-array of groups will also be honored at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park in 2007. Some of these nights include Parks & Recreation Night on July 2nd, Agriculture Night on July 3rd, Firefighter & EMS Appreciation Night on July 26th, Downtown State College Night on August 9th and Law Enforcement Night on August 25th. Opening the weekly promotions throughout the season will be the Nittany Bank Kids Club Kick Off Day on Sunday, June 24th. The Kids Club is open to children 14 and under, and meets prior to every Sunday home game for the Spikes. Sunday's will also provide kids with the opportunity to run around the bases following the 6:05 games.

In addition to Sunday's weekly promotion, every Thursday will be Spikes Happy Hour at the ballpark. Every Thursday, gates will open at 5:00 and there will be live entertainment as well as drink and food specials on the Old State Clothing Co. Fun Deck located in Right Field.

The first chance for fans to secure tickets for these exciting promotions, or for any game during the 2007 season, will be on Saturday, March 31st from 8 AM - 11:30 AM at Spikes TicketPalooza. Tickets will be on sale in person at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, over the phone by calling 877 - 99 - Spikes, or by logging on to StateCollegeSpikes.com. Fans who purchase their tickets in person will be eligible for gift packs courtesy of the Spikes.

In addition to the first day of ticket sales, fans will also have the opportunity to audition to sing the National Anthem prior to one of the Spikes home games. Auditions will run from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM with registration beginning at 8:00AM.
