Brooklyn Cyclones News Release

If you're looking for the perfect gift for the baseball fan in your life, the Cyclones have got the answer. Let them play on the field at KeySpan Park, and learn from the pros with one of the Cyclones' unique instructional clinics and camps!

The team is offering instructional clinics for Ladies and Men this summer, as well as the always-popular four-day Kids Camp. By signing up now, you can ensure an unforgettable baseball experience with the Brooklyn Cyclones! And don't forget...in addition to the memories and experiences, each camp and clinic includes tickets to a Cyclones game this summer!

The Kids Camp will be in session this year from July 18th to 21st, and will feature instruction on the fundamentals of hitting, pitching, and fielding -- with a focus on fun! Kids will learn from Cyclones players and coaches, and get to practice and perform on what Baseball America has called the Best Short-Season Ballpark in the country.

So she asked for a "diamond" this year? Well, give her the one at KeySpan Park! The Ladies Clinic is another returning favorite, as the Cyclones introduce the game and its finer points to female fans. Is there a lady in your life who you think wants to know more about the game you love? Or one who knows she has a better arm than you and wants a chance to prove it? The Ladies Clinic has garnered city-wide attention, introduced the game to some new fanatics, and helped some ladies win their league's championship! Join in on the action, or give a special stocking stuffer to the lady in your life. This year's clinic will take place on July 29th, with tickets included for that night's game

This year, for the first time, the team will also be holding a one-day Men's Camp, with all the same benefits. Learn from, and play with, the pros, and take your hacks at that high fence in left field! The Men's Camp is a chance for some to get a small piece of their dreams, or to relive the glory days of the past...and, of course, to have some fun! Those participating on August 18th will even get an official camp jersey and cap, along with tickets to that night's game.

UMASS COMES TO CLASS: The Cyclones have partnered with the High School of Sport Management (HSSM) in Coney Island, and have worked with the students in various capacities over the last two years. On Wednesday, Cyclones General Manager Steve Cohen, a graduate of the University of Massachussetts, helped coordinate a visit from UMass to the HSSM.

Steve Jefferson and Melvin Rodriguez -- members of the faculty of the UMass Department of Sport Management -- and Lisa Masteralexis -- the Department Head -- spoke to students about the importance of education, and the ways to get involved in the business of sports and sport management, even if you're not a star on the field.

"The kids were really engaged," said Cohen, "and I think many had their eyes opened to a whole new world of possibilities."

On June 2nd, the HSSM students will be organizing a celebrity softball game at KeySpan Park, designed to promote the school's efforts throughout the community and raise funds to better the academic environment at the HSSM.
