Spikes National Anthem Tryouts Going All-Digital in 2016

State College Spikes News Release
(STATE COLLEGE, PA) - The State College Spikes are taking auditions for 2016 National Anthem singers in a whole new direction this season. Fans who wish to sing "The Star-Spangled Banner" prior to a Spikes game can participate in a digital tryout process that gives fans the chance to make their mark in their own way.
Instead of holding tryouts on one day at one time, fans who would like to join the roster of Nittany Technology National Anthem performers can now participate in a digital process that will continue throughout the year. Performers can create a video clip of themselves singing or playing "The Star-Spangled Banner," and submit it to the Spikes via e-mail at nationalanthem@statecollegespikes.com.
The Spikes will then take each clip to a blue-ribbon panel, which will whittle down the list of candidates to an elite group. Those top-level artists will then notified that they have qualified to be a Nittany Technology National Anthem peformer prior to a Spikes home game.
Clips can be sent as video files, or as links to YouTube, Vimeo or another video-sharing website. All entries must include an a capella singing performance or instrumental performance of "The Star-Spangled Banner." Prospective National Anthem performers should also include their name, phone number and e-mail address with their entry.
"We felt that our fans deserved to have more than just one day to showcase their talents for the chance to sing the National Anthem before a Spikes home game," said Spikes General Manager Scott Walker. "This new digital format will also allow our fans to better showcase their creativity and let their personalities shine through in the audition process."
Fans with questions on the new digital National Anthem audition process can e-mail the Spikes at nationalanthem@statecollegespikes.com or call (814) 272-1687.
The Spikes' 2016 home schedule begins on Saturday, June 18 with Opening Night, presented by PSECU and Newsradio 1390 WRSC. Fans can enjoy 38 nights of fun, affordable entertainment and future major league stars through September 4.
Single-game tickets for each Spikes home game can now be purchased in person at the Medlar Field at Lubrano Park Box Office, by phone at (814) 272-1711, or by logging on to StateCollegeSpikes.com.
Season tickets, McDonald's Flex Books and an array of group and hospitality options for the 2016 season are currently on sale by calling the Spikes at (814) 272-1711. Additional information on all club ticketing options, as well as team news and schedule info, can be viewed at www.statecollegespikes.com.
