Evansville Thunderbolts News Release
EVANSVILLE - Sunday's game was a low penalty affair for most of the game as Evansville took on the Fayetteville FireAntz on the road. Only two penalties were called through two periods of play, one against each team. Unfortunately for Evansville, Fayetteville scored on both.
Fayetteville scored late in the first period with a shorthanded goal. It was scored by Chris Porter, who netted his second goal of the season. It was assisted by Graeme Strukoff at 16:35. Fayetteville then scored twice in the second. Porter scored his second of the game, then Stephon Thorne notched a power play marker. Evansville was outshot 18-10 after 40 minutes of play.
The Thunderbolts tried to mount the third period comeback drawing two penalties on the FireAntz. The Evansville power play failed to get the puck past Fayetteville's netminder Sean Bonar. Bonar turned all 19 shots he faced aside for his first shutout this season. Tanner Milliron played in net for the Thunderbolts making 24 saves. Evansville was 0-3 on the power play.
Evansville is 2-1 through three games of their five-game road trip. Evansville scored nine goals in two road games entering play Sunday. The Thunderbolts return home until Friday when they travel to play two games against Peoria.
