Amarillo Bulls News Release

Amarillo, TX - A perfect night of penalty killing and two powerplay goals led the way as the Amarillo Bulls topped the Shreveport Mudbugs in a 6-1 victory on Friday night.

Amarillo jumped out of the gate with a plethora of scoring chances in the opening minutes of the game and would be rewarded when Matt Allen's shot kicked off of the Shreveport goaltender and was tucked into the back of the net by Jordan Venegoni for his 27th goal of the season. Just 1:22 later, Tim Khokhlachev stole the puck and tied the game for Shreveport. Amarillo regained the lead when Gagik Malakyan fired a slap shot into the back of the net for the 2-1 advantage.

Amarillo, looking to grow its lead, jumped out to an early break, with a 3-on-1 opportunity being deflected into the net by Allen for his 23rd of the season. Minutes later, Aaron White would score his 10th of the campaign after cleaning up a loose puck on the powerplay. Amarillo would grow its advantage to four goals as Noah Carlin lifted a puck through traffic for his 10th of the season, bringing the score to 5-1.

The lone scoring in the third period would come from Nick Trela, as his 13th of the season would secure the 6-1 victory.

Charlie Glockner would stop 30 of 31 shots against the Amarillo net and earned his 17th victory of the season.

With the Win, the Bulls are now 37-8-1-3 with 78 points and hold sole possession of the South Division lead.

The Bulls remain at home on Saturday, February 22, to take on the Shreveport Mudbugs. Mark Shelley will broadcast the game from the Spicy Mike's Bar-B-Q Broadcast Booth, and the action will begin at 7:05PM CST on Mixlr.com and Hockey TV.
