BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators rebounded from a two-goal deficit in the first period to win their third straight, defeating the Albany Devils 3-2 on Friday at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.
Andre Petersson scored a pair of power play goals and Jim O'Brien scored the game winner, shorthanded. O'Brien's goal is his third straight game winning goal and second straight shorthanded game winner.
Matt Taormina and Stephane Veilleux scored goals just 28 seconds apart in the first period to send the Devils into the first intermission with a 2-0 lead.
Petersson drew the B-Sens within one as his laser of a shot from the left point found its way to the back of the Albany net on a power play at 12:53 of the second. Petersson then tied the game just 1:54 later, capitalizing on the B-Sens' second straight power play opportunity of the game.
O'Brien broke the tie at 7:41 of the third as he wristed in a feed from Rob Klinkhammer on a shorthanded break.
Klinkhammer and Stephane Da Costa each tallied a pair of assists in the Binghamton victory.
Mike McKenna tended goal for Binghamton, making 38 saves as he improved to 12-12-0 on the season. His counter part Jeff Frazee turned aside 21 shots as he fell to 7-10-2.
Binghamton ended the night 2-for-3 with the man advantage and 2-for-3 on the penalty kill.
The B-Sens return to action tomorrow as they host the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Game time is 7:05 p.m. The first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive lighted Thundersticks courtesy of Verizon Wireless. Tickets are $18.50 for side seating, $17.50 for end seating.
