Spartans and Brown Invade Vikings Territory to Search for Talent

The La Crosse Spartans and Head Coach Gilbert Brown announced today that the team will hold tryouts Sunday, November 22nd in Blaine, MN. The tryout will take place at the National Sports Center located at 1700 105th Ave N. Registration and warm-up will begin at 7:00 am with the tryout starting at 8:00 am. The registration fee to tryout is $65 which includes a t-shirt (cash or credit card only).

Participants must be at least 18 years of age and be prepared to be evaluated in the following drills: 40-yard dash, 20-yard shuttle, four cone drill, standing broad jump, agility drills, position-specific drills and 7-on-7. Kickers will be evaluated on kickoff and field goal proficiency.

This will be the team's third tryout. The Spartans recently completed their second tryout in St. Louis on the weekend of October 17th and 18th. The Spartans expect players from throughout the region to attend the tryouts. "It has not been that often that I have enjoyed heading into Vikings territory, but I am well aware of the football talent in Minnesota," said Gilbert Brown, Spartans head coach.

"I am very proud of the progress that our football team is making," added Chris Kokalis, Spartans co-owner and general manager. "We still have a long way to go, but we are definitely heading in the right direction."
