Sparks hire Mohr as assistant coach

EL SEGUNDO, CA- The Los Angeles Sparks have signed Margaret Mohr as an assistant coach, it was announced today.

Mohr joins the Sparks after 18 years of coaching experience at the high school and college levels. A Long Beach State graduate, Mohr led the 49ers to an appearance in the 1987 Final Four. After graduating with a degree in Physical Education, Mohr became an assistant coach at Long Beach and Santa Clara College. Mohr's first job as head coach followed soon after when she was hired at Woodrow Wilson High School to coach the girl's team. Mohr returned to Long Beach State where she obtained her Masters in Physical Education in 1996. In 1998, Mohr began her eight year stint as head coach at Cypress College where she boasts three trips to the Regional Finals (2000, 2004, and 2006) and a State Championship (2005).

"I am really excited to work for Joe Bryant and for the Sparks organization," Mohr said. "I sincerely appreciate this lifetime opportunity."

The Sparks will ignite their 10th Anniversary Season in Seattle on May 21st against the Storm. The team will host the Detroit Fever on June 7th at 7:30pm with their home opener at STAPLES Center.
