
Sox Fall Short in Yuma Thriller

In one of the year's most exciting games, the Reno Silver Sox fell one run short.
After Kane Simmons came up with a clutch pinch hit single to tie the game in the eighth, 2B Hector Bernal knocked in the games winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning to give The Yuma Scorpions a 13-12 victory.
Before that climax, the game had a lot of buildup.
The Sox scored four times in the third inning to take a 4-0 lead. In the inning 1B Adam Amar collected the first of his three hits and three runs batted in.
Reno went on to take an 8-4 lead to the sixth Three Yuma home runs later the game was tied at eight.
Four more runs scored for Yuma in the bottom of the seventh inning to make it 12-8. But the Silver Sox were not done .
3B Chuck Sidlinger, who went 4-4 with four runs batted in, came up with his biggest hit in the top of the eighth as he doubled in a run and moved the possible tying runs into scoring position. Then Simmons pinch hit for C Josh Mcleod and came up with the big hit to tie it at 12.
Then in the bottom of the ninth against Jason Martinez, two pitches got past C Jose Rodriguez and allowed the possible winning run to advanced from first to third. Then Bernal knocked the run in with a single to left field against the drawn in infield.
Reno starter James Johnson left the game with the lead in the sixth inning, but the bullpen couldn?t hold it and he did not factor in the decision.
