Helena, MT - Tonight the Great Falls White Sox were defeated by the Helena Brewers 10-4 at Kindrick Field in Helena. Yunior Novoa (0-2) took the loss as he worked two innings allowing six runs on six hits. The win went to Rafael Lluberes (1-0) for the Brewers as he worked four innings out of the bullpen, allowing two runs on five hits.
The Sox scored first in the top of the first as Evan Tartaglia scored on a Brandon Allen RBI infield single. That lead would only last a half inning, as Helena would score six times off Novoa. The Brewers sent 10 men to the plate while pounding out 6 hits in the inning to take an early 6-1 lead.
In the bottom of the third inning the game went into a rain delay. Both starting pitchers left the game and the bullpen was forced to work more innings than expected. When the game resumed 1 hour and 33 minutes later, and the score stayed 6-1 until the sixth. In the top half of the sixth Brandon Allen would hit a two run homer to right to cut the Brewers in half. In the seventh the Sox added another run on an Evan Tartaglia RBI groundout that scored Eric Hollis.
The Brewers would get two of those runs back in their half of the seventh on an RBI single by Ryan Braun before James Casey issued a bases loaded to Michael Bell. That would make the score 8-4 Helena. They scored two more times in the eighth on a two run double by Angel Salome, and Helena went on to win 10-4.
Tomorrow night the Sox will play the first of a two game series against the Billings Mustangs at Cobb Field. The starters for the game are: Eric Everly (LHP) for Great Falls and Damien Ursin (RHP) for Billings. Game time is at 7:05pm and can be heard on 560AM-KMON starting at 6:50.
