Casper Ghosts News Release
On Saturday it took the Casper Rockies only eight innings to remember how to score runs. The Rockies left 12 men on base against Idaho Falls, yet good pitching and defense held the Chukars to only four runs on the night.
In the Rockies eighth inning the guys finally got things cooking again. Chris Cook started the inning with a single, then Bret Berglund reached on an error, moving Cook to second. Left fielder Trevor Allen then had his biggest hit of the season, a 2-run double off the left field wall. Steven Suarez then knocked Allen home followed by Aramndo Polanco's first RBI of the season.
The score stayed tied at 4-4 as the teams moved into extra innings. Casper managed to manufacture a run in the 11th for the come from behind win on the road.
Chris Cook again provided the game winning RBI with a sac fly to score Eric Young Jr. The Casper bullpen was brilliant in relief of starter Alan Johnson. Brett Strickland threw 2 and 2/3rd perfect innings as the set up man, Rafael Sanchez earned his 2nd win, and closer Andrew Johnston tossed the 11th for his second save of 2005.
The Rockies and Chukars play one more at McDerrmott Field in Idaho Falls before heading to Ogden to meet the Raptors on Monday.
