Sox Complete Late Comeback

Great Falls, MT - Tonight the Great Falls White Sox defeated the Missoula Osprey 6-5 in 12 innings at Centene Stadium. Jay Marshall (2-0) picked up the win as he worked two and a third innings without allowing a run. The loss went to Cody Evans (0-2) as he worked the bottom of the 12th innings, allowing the game winning run to score.

The Missoula Osprey scored first in the second inning as Pedro Ciriaco singled home Jayson Santiago before a sac fly by Greg Thomson. Two more runs came in during the third inning on Steve Mena's RBI hit then Mena came home on a wild pitch later in the inning. Missoula went up 4-0.

Great Falls scored in their half of the third when Javier Castillo scored on a wild pitch. In the fourth, Castillo doubled home Matt Sharp to make the score 4-2 Osprey. Missoula would again score off reliever Boone Logan in the sixth when Osvaldo Diaz had a sacrifice fly. The Sox would then strike for two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Once on an error than a single from Brandon Johnson made it a 5-4 game.

Johnson would then lead off the bottom of the ninth with a triple. Two batters later Garrett Guest would hit a sac fly to right to bring Johnson home to tie the game. We would head to extra innings.

Still tied, the Sox had the bases loaded with two outs in the 11th. The Osprey's Dan Pohlman would get Daron Roberts to strike out swinging.

However, Great Falls would capitalize in the 12th. A one out triple by Sharp followed by an RBI single by Castillo put the Sox up for the first time as they would win 6-5.

Tomorrow night the Sox will play the second of a three game series with the Missoula Osprey. The starters for the game are: Clayton Richard (LHP) for Great Falls and Greg Smith (LHP) for Missoula. Game time is at 4:00pm and can be heard on 560AM-KMON starting at 3:45.
