Great Falls, MT ¬" Tonight the Great Falls White Sox defeated the Idaho Falls Chukars 6-5 at Centene Stadium. Ryan Rote (0-2) blew a save but picked up the win, allowing two unearned ninth inning runs. The loss went to Matt Kniginyzky (2-1) as he worked two-thirds of an inning, allowing two runs on two hits.
Great Falls scored three times in the fifth inning to take a 3-0 lead. Daron Roberts had a two-run homerun to right before Brandon Johnson doubled home a run later in the inning.
Idaho Falls scored twice in the top of the sixth on a sacrifice fly by Gary Perez and a run scoring double by Jase Turner. The Sox got one run back in the bottom of the inning on a sac fly by Roberts to go up 4-2. However, Idaho Falls scored again in the seventh on an RBI groundout by Josh Colafemina.
Great Falls took a 4-3 lead to the ninth inning and the Chukars scored twice off Rote. A two RBI single by Antonio Sabatini put the Chukars up. Great Falls would resond in the ninth inning when Brandon Johnson singled in Javier Castillo to tie the game. Later in the inning, with the bases loaded, Manny Rodriguez singled home the winning run as the Sox would pick up a 6-5 victory.
Tomorrow night the Sox will start a seven game road trip in Missoula. The starters for the game are: Carlos Perez (LHP) for Great Falls and Mark Romanczuk (LHP) for Missoula. Game time is at 7:00pm and can be heard on 560AM-KMON starting at 6:45.
