July 24, 2005 - Pioneer League (PL)
Casper Ghosts News Release
It was pitching again that guided the Casper Rockies to their 17th win of 2005 as they held off Billings on Sunday 5-2 to complete the sweep. The victory allows Casper to stay just a game out of first place in the race for the 1st half Pioneer League crown.
Anuery Rodriguez worked the front five innings for the Rockies, earning his second win of the season. Rafael Sanchez then pitched three perfect innings of middle relief before Andrew Johnston closed another Rockies win. Johnston has a league best nine saves.
The Rockies bats were led by Eric Young Jr., as he connected on his first home run of the season, as well as two hits a piece from Corey Wimberly, Trevor Allen, and Geoff Strickland.
The Rockies now welcome in Orem for a three-game set. First-round draft pick Chaz Roe takes the mound at 7:05 for the Rockies on another BioLife Plasma Monday.
