Greenville Groove News Release
Greenville, SC - The Greenville Groove, the BI-LO Center, and Southside Christian School have partnered to hold two high school basketball games at the BI-LO Center on Saturday, December 21st. The contests will be the first high school basketball games played in the BI-LO Center. The lady Sabres will face the Liberty Red Devils at 2:00 pm. The boys will match-up against Liberty immediately following the girl's game.
The Southside Christian gymnasium was destroyed by fire on November 20th of this year. The team is re-locating all of their home games to different gyms in the Greenville area. ScheerSports, Inc. and the BI-LO Center are excited to host two of the regular season basketball games. The teams will be playing games at North Greenville College, Greenville County Schools, and local Private Schools.
"I really appreciate the Greenville community supporting our school and our program," commented Greg Mosely, Athletic Director and Head Boys Basketball Coach. "Without the help of our friends in the upstate we would not be able to continue the basketball program at our school. ScheerSports, Inc. and the BI-LO Center have been wonderful. It is a great opportunity for our basketball players, cheerleaders, school band, students, and school family to play a game in the BI-LO Center."
The Greenville Groove will be contributing four dollars from every ticket sold on December 21st to the school gymnasium fund. Tickets to the high school basketball games will start at eight dollars. A ticket will include both of the Southside Christian games and the Greenville Groove game verses the Columbus Riverdragons that night at 7:00 pm. All seats are general admission for both of the high school games.
ScheerSports, Inc. General Manager Byron Rucker adds, "The Groove are excited to be able to bring Southside Christian to the BI-LO Center for their varsity doubleheader. We know that the circumstances are not ideal, but we are more than happy to assist Coach Mosely and their student-athletes while they work through re-construction of their facilities. We know that the fans will enjoy a special day with the Groove."
Greg Mosely has coached the boys to a 4-0 record thus far this season. He is in his sixth year with the Sabres. Mosely also serves as the athletic director of the school. Mike Johnson coaches the girl?s team; they have a 2-2 mark on the season.
The school is located at the intersection of Woodruff Road and Highway 14 in Simpsonville, South Carolina. Southside Christian has been operating since 1967. Currently there are about 1200 students attending the school, in grades K5-12. For more information on Southside Christian School please visit www.southsidechirstian.org or call 864.234.7575.
