
Southern Illinois Miners sign two players

Marion - The Southern Illinois Miners today announced the signing of two new players. Mike Victor and Eric Harryman became the third and fourth players signed by the new team for their inaugural season which begins next May.
"I'm excited about these signings," stated Mike Pinto, the team's new manager. "We are fortunate to continue signing the kinds of players that you like to build a team around - hard workers and good role models," he added.
Mike Victor, a 6'1, 220 lb. first baseman will be playing his first professional season next summer. From St. Josephs College in Rensalear Indiana, he set school records in games played, games started, at bats and doubles. He was also the team leader in 2006 in walks and on base percentage. He led the GLVC (a wooden bat league) in doubles and was twice the Player of the Week. Victor is also a two-time all-region first team first baseman. In 2006, he hit .301 with 20 doubles, 6 home runs and 40 RBI.
Eric Harryman is a 5'11, 170 lb. shortstop. He will be playing in his 2nd professional season. Last year for the Yuma Scorpions of the Golden Baseball League, Harryman hit .256 with 9 doubles, 3 triples, 3 home runs and 12 stolen bases in 70 games. He had a tremendous .984 fielding percentage. He went to the professional ranks from Cal Baptist where he hit .350 with 10 doubles and 8 home runs with a .417 on base percentage.
