South Coast League Adds Juice to Menu
BRADENTON, FL- Bradenton's professional baseball team has a name- the Bradenton Juice! The name and team logo were unveiled at a public ceremony today at the DeSoto Square Mall.
The Juice was one of hundreds of catchy names suggested in a "Name the Team" contest. The greater Manatee community stepped to the plate in a big way and submitted more than a thousand entries for Bradenton's newest entry into the pro sports scene.
"There were many excellent suggestions, but Juice really jumped out at us," said Omar Roque, vice president of Florida Operations for the South Coast League. "We know how important the citrus industry has been in this area, and Juice really sounded like such a fun name...and fun is what the South Coast League is all about."
The "Name the Team" contest winner was Mike Kane of Bradenton. Mike will receive two 2007 season tickets, Bradenton Baseball Merchandise and the right to present the 2007 Opening Day lineup Card to the umpire prior to the start of the game.
To help celebrate the new name, the Bradenton Juice invited everyone to join in a celebration at a World Series party Saturday night at Cherry's, 3561 53rd Avenue West, in Bradenton, starting at 7:30 pm. While the World Series plays on the big screens, the Juice will offer promotions and contests between innings with many great prizes up for grabs, including team merchandise featuring the team logo. The Juice logo, a smiling orange swinging a baseball bat over the words "Bradenton Juice" was designed by FSDesign in Chattanooga.
The Bradenton ball club will take the field at Robert C. Wynn Field located on the campus of Manatee Community College. Unlike minor league teams that are affiliated, the Independent Bradenton club will be responsible for scouting, signing and paying their own players. Offering fan-friendly, affordable fun, they will join five other charter clubs to begin South Coast League play in May of 2007.
