Sounds, Rainiers Rained Out
May 14, 2004 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Nashville Sounds News Release
NASHVILLE - The 7:00 p.m. series finale between the Nashville Sounds and Tacoma Rainiers scheduled for Friday evening has been cancelled due to inclement weather in the Nashville area. The game, which was the last of four scheduled regular season meetings between the teams this season, will not be rescheduled. The teams played the first inning and were in the top of the second when play was halted due to rain.
The postponement results in a 2-1 series victory for the Sounds.
The Sounds continue their homestand on Saturday evening when they welcome the Portland Beavers (AAA-Padres) to town for the 6:00 p.m. opener of a four-game series, the teams' lone meeting in 2004. The teams split their 2003 series, 2-2; Portland leads the all-time series between the clubs, 10-9.
Left-hander Sean Burnett (1-0, 3.72) will take the hill for the Sounds and is scheduled to face Portland right-hander Brian Sweeney (5-1, 2.44). The start will be Burnett's first appearance since April 29; he has missed his last two scheduled outings due to back spasms.
