SEATTLE, WASH. -After a 2-0 loss to Atlanta United FC at Lumen Field on August 20, Seattle Sounders FC hits the road for a two-match stretch, starting with Minnesota United FC on Sunday, August 27 (1:30 p.m. PT / Apple TV - Watch Free, FOX, 93.3 KJR FM, El Rey 1360 AM).
Seattle holds an impressive 11-1-1 record against Minnesota in all competitions since the Midwestern side joined the league in 2017. The lone loss came on July 18, 2021 at Allianz Field. Seattle most recently defeated the Loons 1-0 on April 22 at Lumen Field.
As the season enters its final stretch, Seattle sits in fourth place in the Western Conference with 36 points, one point below LAFC and Real Salt Lake and four points above Austin FC, with 10 games left to play. The matchup features two teams fighting for playoff position as the season nears its end. Seattle currently sits six points clear of the playoff line, while Minnesota sits in ninth place, the final playoff position.
Following Sunday's match, Seattle stays on the road to face Austin FC on Wednesday, August 30 at Q2 stadium (5:30 p.m. PT / Apple TV, 950 KJR FM, El Rey 1360 AM) before returning home to face Cascadia rival Portland Timbers on Saturday, September 2 (7:30 p.m. PT / Apple TV, iHeartMedia, El Rey 1360 AM).
