January 14, 2010 Sounders FC Makes David Estrada Top Pick Seattle selects three players in franchise's second MLS SuperDraft RENTON, WASH. - The Seattle Sounders FC selected University of California-Los Angles forward David Estrada with its first round selection (11th overall) in Thursday's Major League Soccer SuperDraft. "David Estrada is a versatile player that can play up top, play wide, has good energy and can score goals." said Sounders FC Technical Director Chris Henderson. "We are looking forward to seeing him in camp with the rest of our group." Estrada, who was born in Mexico but raised in Salinas, California, played all four years at UCLA and was a four-time All-Pac-10 honoree. In 2006, Estrada went from being a walk-on to Soccer America's Freshman of the Year after leading his team in scoring with a UCLA freshman record 12 goals, four game-winning goals, and 28 points. Estrada finished his collegiate career having started 64 of 78 games played, including all 20 games his senior season, and scored 22 goals with 14 assists. "I know the Sounders FC has a great fan base and did really well on the field for being their first year," said Estrada. "I'm just excited to go to Seattle and contribute the best I can." With its second round selection (27th overall), the Sounders FC selected Villanova University midfielder/forward Mike Seamon. A two-time All-Big East selection, Seamon spent all four years at Villanova and led his club in total points each year. Seamon started all 18 games played as a senior, contributing five goals and seven assists, and was named first team All-Big East. Seattle's final selection in the fourth round (59th overall) was San Diego State University defender/midfielder Jamel Wallace. A four year starter and three time All-Pac-10 honoree, Wallace started 64 of 69 games played with seven goals and one assist. All SuperDraft selections are expected to report to Seattle later this month for preseason training. The Sounders FC is to begin its second MLS season by hosting the expansion Philadelphia Union at Qwest Field on March 25. Sounders FC Makes David Estrada Top Pick

Seattle selects three players in franchise's second MLS SuperDraft

RENTON, WASH. - The Seattle Sounders FC selected University of California-Los Angles forward David Estrada with its first round selection (11th overall) in Thursday's Major League Soccer SuperDraft.
