Seattle Sounders FC News Release
MARBELLA, SPAIN - Sounders FC defeated Swedish side IFK Norrköping 3-0 in its second friendly of the 2024 preseason, a 135-minute contest Sunday at the Marbella Football Center in Marbella, Spain. Albert Rusnák, Léo Chú and Dylan Teves all scored in the victory, with the backline able to hold Norrköping to a clean sheet. Today's match provided the second goals of the preseason for Rusnák and Teves, with Chú recording his strike after tallying two assists in the first friendly on Wednesday vs. FK TSC Bačka Topola.
Seattle wasted no time getting on the scoresheet when Cristian Roldan forced a turnover just outside the area, streaking up the right flank before crossing to Rusnák for the easy finish in the sixth minute. Chú doubled Seattle's lead in the 39th minute, receiving a ball from Jordan Morris inside the area and rocketing a shot into the back of the net.
The match featured a complete lineup change for Seattle in the 70th minute, with a reserve-heavy squad subbing in for the second half of the match. The second unit created some good chances, including a pair of chances by Raúl Ruidíaz and Braudílio Rodrigues in the 84th minute. In the end, it was Teves who scored Sounders FC's third goal, lacing a low strike into the far corner off a feed from Danny Leyva.
Sounders FC continues its preseason training this week from Marbella, with one more friendly in Spain against Danish side Odense BK on February 9 (4:00 a.m. PT). The club then returns to the Pacific Northwest, hosting a final friendly against Sacramento Republic FC on Saturday, February 17 (10:00 a.m. PT). Seattle kicks off its 2024 MLS campaign on the road against LAFC at BMO Stadium on Saturday, February 24 (1:30 p.m. PT / Apple TV, FOX, iHeartMedia Seattle, El Rey 1360 AM).
