Seattle Sounders FC News Release
SEATTLE, WASH. - Seattle Sounders FC and its charitable partner RAVE Foundation, today announced that the club is celebrating Giving Tuesday on Tuesday, November 29 - a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world - by giving back to RAVE's target communities in the form of free soccer balls, Sounders FC swag bags and grocery cards. Giving Tuesday, an annual celebration taking place the Tuesday after Thanksgiving in the United States, aligns with Sounders FC's mission to bring play equity to youth in Washington through its Defend the Right to Play social justice arena for change.
To celebrate a day that encourages people to give back to the community in any possible way, the Rave Green and RAVE Foundation have chosen three different target locations in the cities of Seattle, Burien and SeaTac, each expecting to receive a ball giveaway with a minimum of 100 free soccer balls per location, jersey or swag bags giveaways and a total of $2,500 ingrocery cards to the benefit of those families that have been most affected by food insecurity.
In addition to giveaway opportunities, Yesler Terrace Hinoki Building in Seattle is hosting a USA vs. Iran FIFA World Cup Match Watch Party in its community room, withattendees receiving a bundle with refreshments and giveaways. The match is scheduled to take place next Tuesday, November 29 at 11:00 a.m. PT. Additional information can be found below. Soccer drills and ball giveaways will be given to local youth at Yesler Terrace Field during halftime of the match, as well as at Beverly Park Elementary School (3:00 - 4:00 p.m. PT) and Bow Lake Elementary School (4:00 - 5:00 p.m. PT) later that day.
RAVE FUNDRAISING x FIFA WORLD CUPQATAR 2022
To continue the celebration surrounding FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, RAVE Foundation is collaborating with Flatstick Pub - a local beer-focused pub located in Seattle and surrounding areas - and using the backdrop of World Cup soccer to host a themed auction featuring items from current and past Sounders FC World Cup players, as well as multiple viewing parties for fans to come together and watch the U.S. Men's National Team play against the biggest stars on the world's stage.
Those who can't make it to The Armory at Seattle Center for the club's official U.S. Men's National Team FIFA World Cup Watch Parties can still join one of the Flatstick Pub locations for a chance to watch the USMNT face Iran on Tuesday, November 29 at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, scheduled to kick off at 11:00 a.m. PT. Admission is free and open to the public.
Flatstick Pub is also donating $1 from every beer sold during the match to RAVE Foundation's Fan-Funded Field initiative, a joint effort in collaboration with Seattle Sounders FC's Alliance Council, to help fund one of RAVE's 26 Fields by 2026 campaign.
As part of the World Cup celebration, RAVE is holding an auction with all proceeds benefiting the Fan-Funded Field initiative.
