Strong Island Sound News Release

Patchogue, NY- The Strong Island Sound have announced that on Saturday, February 10, the 7:00 p.m. game at Suffolk Community College versus the Richmond Ballerz will be "Youth Services Night." The Sound have donated 500 tickets to the Suffolk County Youth Bureau to distribute.

"The Sound organization is looking forward to this evening, and are very happy to be working with the Suffolk County Youth Bureau to make this a memorable night not only for them, but for us, as well," stated team co-owner Darren Cioffi. "We feel that the family environment our games provide will be a memorable event for everyone. The team is in first place and the game experience will be enhanced with our mascot, Shayken Bayke, and our dance team, the Sound Dancers."

Lou Medina, Executive Director of the Suffolk County Youth Bureau, stated, "This will be a fun night for us. The kids will get to meet the players and attend the autograph session."

The tickets will be distributed to youths from eight years of age to 21, from a number of youth programs including the Boys and Girls Club, Police Athletic League, tutoring and counseling programs, recreational programs, and various baseball, basketball and soccer leagues.

"This is an opportunity for a family to go to a place that is not expensive, a local team for Long Island, that the kids and parents can attend together for quality family time, "Medina continued. "When I was a kid, the ABA name meant a lot. Dr. J, Connie Hawkins, Joe Dupree. Good memories for a league that provided an opportunity. This can be the same thing."

Medina was asked if the Sound can succeed as highly as the Long Island Ducks, and responded, "No doubt. It has the potential to grow to that level. Affordable, family entertainment with a chance to see the Long Island athlete."

The Suffolk County Youth Bureau has provided quality service for more than 30 years.
