Sound Tigers and State Farm Announce Summer Reading Program

June 22, 2010 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Bridgeport Islanders News Release

BRIDGEPORT - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers and State Farm Insurance have teamed up to present the second annual Bridgeport Sound Tigers' Summer Reading Program.

Over 6,000 students from nearly 100 schools and libraries are taking part in the Sound Tigers' Summer Reading Program. The goal is for students to read at least 10 books over the summer months. Students who achieve this goal will receive two complementary tickets to the Sound Tigers' 10th Anniversary Season home opener, thanks to the support of State Farm Insurance. Sound Tigers mascot Storm has been traversing the state and visiting different schools and libraries to encourage Connecticut's youth to strengthen their reading skills and participate in this educational program.

This program helps promote Connecticut Governor M. Jodi Rell's Summer Reading Challenge, an initiative which inspired students all across Connecticut to read 800,000 books last summer.

Join the Sound Tigers' community by following the Sound Tigers on Facebook or Twitter. The Sound Tigers' 10th Anniversary Season is fast approaching, and season tickets are still available. For more information on 2010-2011 season tickets, call 203-334-GOAL or e-mail info@soundtigers.com.
