Sound Home for the Holidays

December 21, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Strong Island Sound News Release

Patchogue, NY- All I want for Christmas is...two home wins! That could easily be on the list of every Strong Island Sound fan. And Santa may deliver. The team is hoping to snap a three-game skid with a little home cookin'. On both Friday and Saturday evenings, the 8-6 Sound will host two of the hottest teams in the ABA.

To start the Holiday weekend, the Maryland Nighthawks will bring their 6-5 record into Suffolk Community College in Selden. Randy "White Chocolate" Gill will razzle and dazzle the Long Island faithful with his streetball moves, only to be rivaled by Jerome "Fridge" Holman of the Sound, who knows a thing or two about making the fans get on their feet.

The Nighthawks are carrying a three-game winning streak into the game, which includes a 128-115 win against the Sound in Maryland on December 10th. They are currently a half a game behind Strong Island in the Blue Central Division standings.

On Saturday, the 7-3 Quebec City Kebekwa look to make it two straight over the Sound after a 101-92 victory last Friday night in Canada. The next evening, the Keb's defeated the defending ABA champion Rochester Razorsharks, 85-75. The expansion Quebec club is in second place in the Blue North Division, trailing the 10-2 Vermont Frost Heaves.
