Turlock Cal Express News Release
TURLOCK,CA - The Soles de Sonora (6-7) started off their two-game road trip on a high note after outscoring the Turlock Cal Express (4-9) at home to a final score of 7-4 at Turlock Indoor.
The Cal Express and The Soles de Sonora did not find the back of the net in the first fifteen of the opening quarter after great saves by both goalkeepers.
It wasn't until the first two minutes in the second that The Cal Express capitalized with a goal by Mathew Germain. The early lead in the second lasted until minute 14 when Alejandro Leyva blasted one in past Edgar Martinez.
Both MASL teams headed into halftime tied 1-1.
The Cal Express returned with a big change in the box. Turlock swapped Edgar Martinez and played Sanaldo Carvahlo. Sanaldo was signed earlier this week to the Cal Express.
This change did not phase Soles who sit in third place in the Western Conference. They came out even stronger and it showed within 30 seconds of the third after Gustavo Rosales just drove one in the corner.
Salvador Corrales joined in on the action a minute later and extended their lead to 3-1.
Turlock was able to make it 3-2 with a goal by Matt Max but Salvador Corrales answered back with his second of the night.
The remainder of the game was all Soles. They scored three more times making impossible for The Cal Express to come back even after putting in their 6th attacker with 8 minutes left in the 4th.
Tonight's tough loss keeps Turlock in the bottom two while making it harder to compete for the 4th spot in the conference.
Cal Express will head out to visit the Tacoma Stars next Friday before returning home for a few games.
