
Sol Agrees to Third Year at Komet "D"

Fort Wayne, IN-- The Komets announced Wednesday that Cody Sol has agreed to terms for his third straight year guarding the Fort Wayne blue line.
Sol (SOLE), 25, made his Fort Wayne debut in 2014-15 appearing in all 72 regular season games and leading the Komets with 154 penalty minutes. Last year the Woodstock, Ontario native again led with 259 penalty minutes while posting career highs of 19 assists and 21 points in 65 games before helping the Komets advance to the third round of the playoffs scoring two goals and six points in 16 post season games. His Fort Wayne career regular season totals are nine goals, 30 assists, 39 points and 413 penalty minutes in 137 games.
Sol started a five-year juniors career in 2007-08 skating three seasons with Saginaw and adding two with Kitchener. During his juniors career Sol was selected by Atlanta in round 5 of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft and made his pro debut in the AHL playing one game with Chicago during 2009-10. The 6-foot-5, 242-pound defender completed his juniors career in 2011-12 leading Kitchener defensemen with 15 goals and 178 penalty minutes.
Sol joined St. John's in the AHL for 2012-13 and appeared in 26 games while also adding 25 ECHL games during the year with Colorado. In 2013-14 Sol skated one AHL game with St. John's and appeared in 65 ECHL games with Ontario scoring six goals and 16 points.
Sol will be starting his fifth pro year when the puck drops on 2016-17. He has totaled 20 goals, 43 assists, 63 points and 643 penalty minutes in 227 career ECHL games.

Three preseason games slated-- The Komets will skate three exhibition games, two at home and one on the road. The preseason schedule is as follows: Friday, Oct. 7, Indy Fuel at Fort Wayne Komets, 8pm ET (Allen County War Memorial Coliseum) Saturday, Oct. 8, Fort Wayne Komets at Indy Fuel, 6pm ET (Indiana Farmers Coliseum) Monday, Oct. 10, Brampton Beast at Fort Wayne Komets, 7:30pm ET (Allen County War Memorial Coliseum)
The Komets will open the season with a home-and-home series against the Quad City Mallards starting Friday, Oct. 14 at Quad City. Both teams return to Fort Wayne for the Komets' home opener Saturday, Oct. 15m. See 2016-17 Komet schedule
