Sockers, Sean Bowers reach agreement
October 18, 2004 - Major Indoor Soccer League 2 (MISL 2)
San Diego Sockers News Release
(SAN DIEGO, Calif.) Â The San Diego Sockers announced today that all-star defender Sean Bowers has reached an agreement, in principle, with the team. The agreement is under review by the Major Indoor Soccer League. Per team policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
"I couldn't be more pleased that Sean decided to rejoin the team and bring his leadership skills, as well as his tenacity on the field, back for another season," said team owner, Raj Kalra. "We all worked hard to come to an agreement that satisfied everyone involved and look forward to a great year and having Sean part of the Sockers is an integral part to our success."
Bowers led the League last year with 93 blocks and was second in assists (19) for the Sockers. This will be his second season with San Diego after being acquired last year in a trade with the Baltimore Blast. A Mira Mesa High School graduate, he was a member of the 2003-04 MISL All-Star team and during the 2002-03 season with Baltimore, led the team to an MISL Championship title.
"I'm ready to start playing and contributing again," said Bowers. "I've been out for two games and it's been tough. Part of the reason I came back to San Diego was because I wanted to win an MISL Championship with the Sockers."
The Sockers next home game takes place this Friday, Oct. 22 against Western Division rivals, the Kansas City Comets. The game kicks off at 7 p.m. at the Sports Arena. "Get in on the Action" of Legends Night and call 858.836.GOAL (4625) to get your tickets today.
