
Sockers Look for Sidekick Revenge Tonight

The San Diego Sockers will open this week with a 6 p.m. kickoff Thursday against the Dallas Sidekicks. These two teams have met once this season, Dallas walking away with a 9-4 victory in the Lone Star State. On Sunday, San Diego returns to the Sports Arena to face the Kansas City Comets for the first time this season.
Fans have the opportunity to get in free to the Thursday game when bringing a donated item for the victims of the San Diego wildfires.
About the Opponent
The Dallas Sidekicks travel to San Diego for the first time this season after beating the Sockers, 9-3, in last weekend's contest. Shaun David scored a hat trick in the victory, with six other Sidekicks scoring goals of their own.
Dallas forward David Doyle leads the Major Indoor Soccer League with 12 points (3G, 9A) and nine assists. Defender Frank Filo also leads the league with 16 blocks. Goalkeeper Sagu is in second place with a 3.77 average. facing 101 shots with 79 saves, the most in the MISL.
Tatu has been coaching the Sidekicks for the last six seasons, retiring as a player last year after 21 seasons of indoor soccer success. He is near the top of the career list in several categories and was a member of all four Sidekicks' championship teams (1987, 1993, 1998, 2001).
Around the MISL
Milwaukee will look to rebound off a 10-6 loss to the Force when they take on the Monterrey Fury at 7 p.m. in Milwaukee. Cleveland will travel to Philadelphia on Saturday as both teams will battle for first place in the Eastern Division.
Monterrey will continue their East Coast swing with a 7:35 kickoff in Baltimore on Saturday, while Milwaukee will travel to St. Louis for a 7:05 p.m. start.
Wright In, DaSilva Out
Paul Wright marked him return to the Sockers team after serving a three-game suspension from last season. He played in Dallas and earned his first assist of the season. Meanwhile, Nino DaSilva received a red-card ejection in the game against the Sidekicks, but will return to action on Sunday against his former team, the Kansas City Comets.
Ughy Continues His Streak
Forward Mark Ughy has added to his point total is every game this season. The Hungarian native leads the team with six points.
The Power of Bowers
Sockers defender Sean Bowers is eighth all-time with 910 blocks and is only 10 blocks from moving into seventh.
