Sockers involved in two for one trade

June 15, 2004 - Major Indoor Soccer League 2 (MISL 2)
San Diego Sockers News Release

SAN DIEGO, CA The San Diego Sockers announced a trade with the Cleveland Force, bringing two-time all- star defender and Canadian International, Nevio Pizzolitto and fan-favorite Braeden Cloutier to the Sockers. To complete the deal, the Force will receive midfielder Robbie Aristodemo in return from the Sockers.

"This is step one on the road to improving our team. The opportunity to obtain two starters for one is a deal we could not pass up," stated Sockers' Head Coach Brian Quinn.

Pizzolitto was a member of the 2004 MISL All-Star International Team this past February, but was unable to play due to a hernia injury. The injury also limited the Montreal native's playing time for the Force this past year. Pizzolitto finished the 2004 MISL season with three goals and three assists in 19 games played. Pizzolitto is also currently a member of the Canadian National Team.

Cloutier returns to the Sockers' midfield, having played for San Diego in 1994 and 1996. In 52 games with the Sockers, Cloutier amassed 38 goals and 24 assists. Braeden has also played in Major League Soccer with the San Jose Clash, Metro Stars and most recently with the New England Revolution in 2002 under the guidance of former Socker, Fernando Clavijo. Cloutier finished 2004 with 11 goals and nine assists in 22 games played.

Aristodemo recently finished his second season with San Diego and is currently playing in the A-League for the Seattle Sounders. The Ontario, Canada native played 36 games for the Sockers in 2004 and tallied seven goals and 11 assists.

The Sockers will begin the 2004-05 Major Indoor Soccer League season in October. The 40-game schedule runs through April of 2005 featuring nine different opponents for San Diego, including the recently added Chicago franchise, The Storm. Season ticket and group packages are available now by contacting the Sockers' office at (858)836-GOAL (4625). Log on to the Sockers' website at www.sockers.com for further information.
