
Sockers Hold on to Top Knights 10-9 in US Open Quarterfinal

LAS VEGAS--Majell Aterado scored a hat trick inluding the game-winning goal with 2:53 to play in the fourth quarter as the San Diego Sockers overcame their worst defensive effort of the season to beat the Las Vegas Knights 10-9. The win advances San Diego into the US Open Western finals against Tacoma, in a game to be played February 5th in Washington. Dan Antoniuk had two goals and two assists for the Sockers, Chiky Luna scored twice and Eric Wunderle had a goal and two assists, but the Sockers defense gave up three power-play goals, allowing the Knights from the PASL-Premier (a division below the PASL-Pro) to hang in the game on their home field. Luis Suarez scored a hat trick for the Knights in a losing cause.
The Sockers (8-2) return to PASL-Pro action on Saturday, January 29th as they take on Revolucion Tijuana at the Del Mar Arena.
