Louisville Lightning News Release
LOUISVILLE, KY (January 22, 2011) -The Louisville Lightning are back in action Saturday night, hoping to put together a winning streak and a divisional run in the second half of the season. They have a fantastic opportunity against their biggest rivals this weekend, as they'll host the Cincinnati Kings at Mockingbird Valley Sports Complex Saturday night at 8 PM.
The Lightning have lost both meetings to the Kings this season, but the two games have been decided by a total of just three goals. Led by 2010 PASL Player of the Year Jeff Hughes, Cincinnati currently leads the Eastern Division with a 9-2 record. Louisville, however, is on the move in the standings. A win over the Kings would be their second in a row, thanks to a huge road victory last weekend. Louisville defeated the second-place Detroit Waza last Saturday 10-4 to stay ahead of the Ohio Vortex in the standings. The Lightning face both Ohio and Detroit again following Saturday's game with Cincinnati.
For the Lightning, much of the scoring has come from different sources this season. Despite scoring 53 goals in league play thus far, the Lightning have only one player (Chad Hagerty) in the top 15 of the league in points. They have no players in the top ten in scoring this season. The issue hasn't been a lack of goals as much as well-distributed offense. Louisville has had 16 different players find the back of the net this season, with Hagerty and rising star Kolby Lacrone leading the way with ten and seven goals, respectively. Hagerty was named PASL Player of the Week last week, the first such honor for the Lightning this season.
Louisville will host Cincinnati in what is being billed as the biggest game of the year. A victory could propel the Lightning to a lengthy winning streak and a late-season run in the division. Kickoff for Saturday's game is set for 8 PM at Mockingbird Valley Sports Complex. For more information, please visit www.louisvillelightning.com.
