San Diego Sockers News Release

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – San Diego Sockers Head Coach Brian Quinn has announced the selection of seven players including University of San Diego midfielder Scott Burcar in the 2004 MISL Amateur Draft.

"Scott will be able to adapt quickly to the indoor game. I really like his toughness," said Quinn about the midfielder.

He went on to say, "There are a couple of other players from USD that I will invite for tryouts in the summer."

In addition to Burcar, San Diego chose Alan Gordon (forward, Oregon State), Adom Crew (midfielder, Brown University), Atilla Vendegh (forward, Old Dominion), Tom McMenemy (forward, Columbia University), Joseph Ngwenya (forward, Coastal Carolina) and Kevin Hudson (midfielder, SMU). Ngwengya currently is in training camp with Major League Soccer's Los Angeles Galaxy.

"Kevin Hudson has been around indoor soccer a long time growing up in the St. Louis Area and should be a nice fit to our team," said Quinn about the 15th overall draft pick.

All picks are eligible to join the Sockers immediately but due to other commitments will most likely not be seen until the 2004-05 season.
